Curriculum Vitae
I am a Byzantine historian specialising in the political and social history of the middle Byzantine period, with particular interest in elite networks, kinship, and prosopography.
I graduated first in my undergraduate cohort from the Department of History and Archaeology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in July 2017 (GPA 9.58/10) and then pursued an MA in Byzantine History at the same department (October 2019, GPA 9.90/10). In June 2025 I defended my PhD thesis in History, completed in co-supervision between Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and NKUA under the supervision of Sophie Métivier and Katerina Nikolaou. Entitled Liens familiaux et réseaux politiques à Byzance (717-1025) [Family ties and political networks in Byzantium (717-1025)], the thesis examines the political and cultural functions of kinship, with a particular focus on relations between the emperor and the aristocracy and on elite prosopography. These themes overlap closely with Byz-GOVAG’s chronological scope and its investigation of the structures and agents that sustained state continuity and cohesion. My graduate and postgraduate studies have been funded by the A. G. Leventis Foundation, the Foundation for Education and European Culture, and the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation.
Since September 2026, I have been working as a postdoctoral researcher in Byz-GOVAG. My role includes the analysis of sigillographic and non-sigillographic evidence for provincial officials, research in seal collections, and contributions to structured datasets and databases (TAKTIKON online, Sig(I)n DB, and BullaeNet). I also prepare peer-reviewed articles and contribute to the mentoring of MA- and PhD-level researchers. My work builds in part on the specialised training in Byzantine sigillography I received during the first Unsealing Byzantium International Training School, organised within the framework of Byz-GOVAG in May–June 2026.
Research interests: Middle Byzantine political and social history; kinship studies; prosopography; sigillography; historiography.
